Linda Dodson, Nurse Practitioner, has been in the health care profession for 35 years. She graduated nursing schools in 1981 and worked in the hospital until 1991 when she graduated from West Texas University with a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. She graduated in 1994 as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner, from the University of North Texas. Linda continued her education at West Texas A&M and became a Family Nurse Practitioner in 2002. In 2015 Linda started working at Caring Hands.

Dr. Johnny Zellmer began practicing emergency medicine as a resident in August 1997 at various facilities in central Oklahoma. Upon completion of the program in 1999, Dr. Zellmer returned to McAlester and began a career at the McAlester Regional Health Center in the Emergency Department. After twenty-two years, Dr. Zellmer left the ER to join Caring Hands Healthcare Centers, Inc. a Federally Qualified Health Center where he practices Family Medicine and serves as Medical Director. He is a member of the Oklahoma State Medical Association and American Association of Family Practioners.
Susan is a Physician Assistant who received her Bachelors of Science at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. Susan joined the Caring Hands Healthcare Centers Family in May of 2014. Susan’s interests include playing the piano, watching sports, reading devotionals, attending church and spending time with her husband Jeff. Susan is available at our Hartshorne office Tuesday through Friday.
Linda Dodson, Nurse Practitioner, has been in the health care profession for 35 years. While attending the University of North Texas she also worked for the Texas Department of Health providing services for women and children until she graduated in 1994 as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner. Linda continued her education at West Texas A&M and became a Family Nurse Practitioner in 2002 and started providing services to all patients of all ages. She has experience in Primary Care, Emergency Rooms, Urgent Care, and Occupational Health and is even on the National Registry to perform DOT physical exams. In 2007 Linda moved to McAlester, Oklahoma and has since recently became a proud member of the Caring Hands Health Care Family providing services for pediatrics , prenatal care , women’s health and primary care. Linda is available in our Hartshorne office on Mondays, and in our McAlester office Tuesday through Thursday.
Stacy L Scroggins, a physician assistant at Caring Hands, has over 19 years of experience in the field of medicine. She graduated from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center with her degree in 2000. She enjoys spending time with her 5 children and her Great Dane, Grace. She likes to watch OU football, enjoys reading, and exploring the world.
Jennifer Brewer, APRN-CNP received her Masters of Science from the University of Oklahoma and post-graduate Family Nurse Practitioner degree from the University of Alabama- Birmingham. Jennifer is board certified through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners since 2011. She has extensive health care experience caring for patients across the life span in treatment and prevention of diseases, including hypertension, diabetes, high-cholesterol, mental health, women’s health, respiratory illness and much more.
Jennifer has lived in McAlester most all her life and proudly developed many relationships with patients, families, and other health care professionals. She is dedicated to building an open and trusting relationship with her patients and strives to empower patients to take an active role in their health care through education on disease prevention and healthy life style choices.
Kamron Torbati, MD, received his Master of Public Health Degree and his Medical Doctorate Degree from St. Georges University in Grenada West Indies. He specializes in Obstetrics and Gynecology. He served as a U.S. Marine and was deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. He enjoys reading and shooting competitively. He and his wife Tiffany have 2 children, a son Charlie and daughter Claire.
Beverly Knighten, LCSW, acquired her masters in Social Work from Newman University in Wichita, Kansas. She has enjoyed 18 years of clinical social work experience providing therapy, and 21 years of Addiction Counseling to various individuals of different cultures and backgrounds. Most of Beverly’s experience was developed while working as a Program Manager, Supervisor, and Therapist in VAMC (Veterans Administration Medical Center) working with veterans with PTSD, Depression, Anxiety, Bi-polar, Substance Abuse, Suicide Prevention and other SMI. In addition, she has also worked with families and children with similar illnesses through community involvement.
Even though she enjoys Solution Focus Therapy, Beverly has also provided various treatment modalities to ensure the right approach for each individual is appropriate for their overall health. Likewise, Beverly has pledged to provide an environment of healing, strength building, and support while the person is pursuing their own voice and understanding.
Christy graduated with a Bachelor of Social Work from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah and with a Master of Social Work from the University of Oklahoma, Tulsa Campus. Christy was part of the Veteran’s Initiative in Tulsa to help reduce the amount of suicides and reduce PTSD symptoms for all military personnel. Christy is a member for the Region 7 Stop Substance Abuse Taskforce in the Southeastern area of Oklahoma. As a therapist, Christy is warm, open, encouraging, and direct. Christy is committed to helping people overcome their addictions to alcohol and drugs and their experiences with trauma and depression. Christy considers herself an active therapist, combining experience, education, creativity, and sense of humor with a down-to-earth, realistic approach to counseling.
Dr. Jan Julian joined the Caring Hands Family in January 2017. Jan grew up in Valliant and graduated from Valliant High in 1976. She pursued a degree in Microbiology at OU and received her DDS degree at the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry in 1984. In 1985, Dr. Julian opened a private practice in downtown Dallas, and practiced in the Dallas area until 2012. Jan joined New image Dental team in 2011, and recently relocated to McAlester from Garland, TX.
Dr. Julian has one daughter who is currently a student at Edward Via medical in Auburn. Jan loves to travel. She is available at our McAlester clinic Monday, Thursday and Friday.
Brian has lived in McAlester for 6 years. He and his wife Allison have 3 children: Axton, Roan, and Sophia. He has worked at McAlester Regional Health Center for 5 years as a Registered Dietician. He began working at Caring Hands Healthcare Centers in 2016 as an Outpatient Dietitian. Brian completed his Bachelor of Science degree at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Brian completed his Dietetic internship at Texas A & M in Kingsville, Texas. This has been a great opportunity to reach more residents in the community and provide them nutrition counseling services. Brian is available at our McAlester clinic on Mondays.
