Our Expansion Project

Room to Care

We're growing so more of our neighbors can get great care close to home, no matter their insurance or income.

Why We're Growing

More than a building. A promise.

From day one, Caring Hands has stood for one thing: quality, affordable care for everyone, whatever their insurance or income. McAlester keeps growing, and the need for care close to home grows with it. This new building gives us room to see more patients and keep primary care, behavioral health, dental, pharmacy, and women's health together in one place.

It's a long-term investment in Pittsburg County's health, and in the people who call it home. We're not going anywhere, and neither is our commitment to this community.

How We Got Here

It took a whole community

A project this size doesn't happen on its own. Federal, state, and local partners all stepped up to make the new clinic possible, and so did the people who have supported Caring Hands for more than 20 years. We're grateful to every one of them.

  • $3 million

    Secretary Markwayne Mullin

Secured a congressional appropriation through HRSA.

  • $3.7 million

Senator Warren Hamilton, Representative Jim Grego, and Representative David Smith

Secured funding through the American Rescue Plan Act.

  • $18.4 million

    USDA Rural Development

Provided a loan to build the new facility.

  • Infrastructure

The City of McAlester and City Council

Supported the project with property annexation and water and sewer infrastructure.

  • Architecture

    Architects In Partnership (AIP)

Designed the new clinic, with Matt Graves and Gang Li leading the work.

  • Construction

    Crossland Construction

Building the new facility as our construction partner.

And to our providers, our staff, and our Board of Directors: this building exists because of the care you give every day.

We Broke Ground

On August 14 we gathered on Van Buren Avenue with our staff, our board, and the partners who helped get us here, and turned the first shovels of dirt on the new Caring Hands Healthcare Clinic. More than 20 years of caring for this community, and now the room to keep doing it.

Here We Go!

Site work is underway. This month crews cleared and graded the site, shaping the ground where our new home will rise. Seeing it take shape from the sky made it real.
